Why is my Mac fan so loud?
Sometimes we observe an increase in the noise coming from the fan in our Mac laptops. This increase in noise is due to an increase in the speed of the fan.
There are different reasons why the speed of the fan in the laptop will increase which invariably lead to an increase in sound.
Different Reasons why the speed of the fan increases
Heavy Task: The fan in your laptop will increase its speed if you are using your laptop for heavy intensive tasks. Heavy intensive tasks such as playing HD graphic games, Streaming online HD videos, using apps that require high CPU usage and some other heavy tasks. You can also experience an increase in the speed of the fan when you open too many browsers and tabs at the same time because the CPU will be working at an increased rate. The fan increases its speed to provide more airflow in order to cool down the system.
To reduce the noise, give keen observation to your system so as to know which kind of tasks usually increases the fan speed that leads to loud noise and reduce the task. You can also disable any app that uses a high amount of CPU.
Also, keep your laptop in a cool ambient temperature when using it. Do not use it in a hot environment as the fan speed will increase its working rate in order to cool down the system.
Clogged with dust: The noise coming from the fan will increase if the fan in your system is clogged with dust. The dust will reduce the speed and optimum performance of the fan leading to an increase in noise.
You need to clean the fan in your system so as to keep it working in a perfect condition. You can take it to a technician to clean it for you or you can clean it yourself.
Old or has a mechanical problem: You can also experience an increase in the noise when the fan is old or has a mechanical problem and needs to be replaced.
