How to Move Apps from phone memory to SD card in Android

The internal storage capacity of a phone is one of the most important aspects that we look out for when getting a phone. Phones come in different internal storage capacities such as the 8GB, 16GB, 32GB, 128GB, and so on.

Most time we want to download more apps on our phones but we can’t because the storage capacity of the phone is low. Maybe your phone comes with just 8GB internal memory or 16GB internal memory and it is already filled up with your pictures, audio, and videos. Maybe you want to download that interesting game you saw your friend playing on his phone but you can’t download it on your phone because of low storage and you’re not happy about it.

You don’t have to worry so much as there are different ways you can free up some space in your phone memory. The easiest way to do this is to get an SD card.

With an SD card, you can free up some space in your internal phone memory by moving your apps and files into it. Though not all apps can be moved but most apps can be moved to SD card.

To move apps from your phone memory to SD card in Android, follow these steps;

Step 1: Open Settings on your phone.

Step 2: Then navigate downwards and tap on Applications.

Step 3: After you tap of applications it will take you to the list of all your apps on your phone. Tap on
any app and you will see some information about the app such as memory info, mobile data,
storage, battery info.

Step 4: Tap on storage.

Step 5: You will see all storage information such as cache info, data used, if the app is stored
in the internal or external storage. Tap on the Change icon.

Step 6: Select SD card.

Step 7: Tap on Move

Things to Note: Most Android phones come with apps with inbuilt internal memory. With such apps, you won’t see the option of external memory as it is only internal memory. What this means is that you can’t move them to an external memory.

After you have successfully moved some of your apps to your SD card, there will be some free space in your phone memory. You can then download more apps or store more files that you want to store.
